Qualitätsfaktoren kann man in AdWords problemlos einsehen, allerdings nur als Momentaufnahme. Um die zeitliche Entwicklung verfolgen zu können, muss man die Werte selbst aufzeichnen. Dafür gibt es jetzt ein neues AdWords Skript.

Wer sich schon mal mit dem Thema beschäftigt hat, ist vermutlich auf die vorherige Version gestoßen. Die wird in zahllosen Blogs und oft auch auf Konferenzen immer wieder empfohlen, was mich jedes Mal freut. Das habe ich vor einiger Zeit zum Anlass genommen, das Skript von Grund auf neu zu entwickeln, an den Stand der Technik anzupassen und ordentlich aufzumöbeln.

Die neue Version unterscheidet sich deutlich von ihren Vorgängern. Wichtigstes Ziel war es, das Tool so einfach wie nur möglich nutzbar zu machen. Herausgekommen ist ein Skript, das sich ohne weitere Einrichtung sofort nutzen lässt. Trotzdem bietet es so viele Funktionen und erledigt eine Menge im Hintergrund.

Folgendes macht das Skript:

Qualitätsfaktoren erfassen und aufzeichnen

Der Quality Score Tracker erfasst die Keyword-Qualitätsfaktoren in einer Google Tabelle. Anders als bei den vorherigen Versionen muss man nicht mehr auswählen, welche Keywords erfasst werden sollen – es werden einfach alle erfasst. So kann man später nachvollziehen, welche Änderungen es für ein beliebiges Keyword gegeben hat.

Dashboard

Neben der Erfassung von Einzelwerten ist das Dashboard der Kern des Skripts. Dadurch bekommt man jederzeit einen Überblick über den aktuellen Stand.

Auch das Dashboard kommt in Form einer Google Tabelle daher. Dort stehen auch die Gesamtzahlen zur Verfügung.

Integration mit Google Drive

Alle Dateien (Dashboard und erfasste Keyword-Qualitätsfaktoren) werden in einem Google-Drive-Verzeichnis gespeichert. Darauf kann man über den Browser zugreifen, oder alle gängigen Drive-Features nutzen, um beispielsweise die Dateien mit dem eigenen Rechner zu synchronisieren oder anderen Zugriff zu erlauben.

Für Google Tabellen gibt es leider eine Obergrenze für die Anzahl der Zellen (zwei Millionen). Da man diese Grenze möglicherweise schnell erreicht, gibt es einen Mechanismus im Skript, der dann einfach zusätzliche Tabellen anlegt. Die Dateien werden durchnummeriert, so dass man sich später bei Bedarf zurechtfindet.

Da alle Dateien als Google Tabellen gespeichert werden, werden sie nicht auf das Google Drive Speicherplatzkontingent angerechnet.

Konfigurierbarkeit

Das Skript bringt verschiedene Einstellmöglichkeiten mit sich, die man ändern kann, aber nicht muss. Beispielsweise kann man sich andere Charts auf dem Dashboard anzeigen lassen, etwa den nach Klicks gewichteten Qualitätsfaktor.

Integriertes FAQ

Die Dashboard-Tabelle enthält auch ein FAQ, das jedes Mal auf den neuesten Stand gebracht wird, wenn das Skript läuft.

Das Skript ist so schon sehr komplex, aber wir haben noch einige Ideen für neue Funktionen, die ich noch hinzufügen möchte (als erstes wohl eine MCC-Version). Sobald eine neue Version verfügbar ist, taucht im Dashboard ein kleiner Hinweis auf.

Einrichtung (Kurzfassung)

Da das Skript sofort einsatzbereit ist, gestaltet sich die Einrichtung sehr einfach:

  1. Skriptcode kopieren (siehe unten) und ins AdWords-Konto einfügen.
  2. Tägliche Ausführung einstellen. Empfehlung: Morgens um 1:00 Uhr.
  3. Skript ausführen. Die URL zum Dashboard steht anschließend im Protokoll. Alternativ findet man alles über Google Drive.

Einrichtung ausführlich

In AdWords links auf Bulk-Vorgänge klicken und dann zu Skripts navigieren. Dort auf +Skript klicken und anschließend das Skript einfügen (steht am Ende dieses Blog-Beitrags). Als Namen „Quality Score Tracker v3.0“ eingeben. Speichern und anschließend autorisieren.

Zurück zu Skripts navigieren und dort das neue Skript ganz oben in der Liste finden. Daneben auf +Zeitplan erstellen klicken. Als Häufigkeit „Täglich“ auswählen und eine Zeit auswählen. Empfehlung: Morgens um 1:00 Uhr. Auf Speichern klicken.

Auf Ausführen klicken. Anschließend nach unten scrollen, wo unter Protokolle das Skript läuft. Bei größeren Konten mit vielen Keywords kann das eine Weile dauern, ansonsten kann es auch nach 15 Sekunden schon fertig sein. Danach rechts auf Protokolle klicken. Dort erneut oben auf die Schaltfläche Protokolle klicken. Jetzt sieht man die URLs für das Dashboard und das Google Drive Verzeichnis. Alternativ kann man das Verzeichnis mit dem Dashboard auch einfach in Google Drive finden.
